Working in Singapore

Filed under: random — Mel @ 12:13 am

Well since i have so many questions about how to work in Singapore…
I’ll compile them here and share what i can answer.

Q: What do i need to prepare to work in Singapore?
A: First thing first, willing. There is a proverb says ‘Where there is a will, there is a way’. :)

If you have a will to work, i believe you can find your own way.

Hahaha…
Don’t worry, since i have decided to write this post, I’ll help you a bit.

Well you need to prepare:
* passport
* money
* resumes
* laptop.

You will need laptop to access internet, don’t worry you don’t need to subscribe internet, you just need to go to public place then you can surf for free. just bring your laptop then turn on your wireless.

Living cost in Singapore… (monthly)
* rent : $400 single room no air cond, $500 single room with air cond
* PUB (public utilities bill, water and electricity) :$50
* meal $10/day : $310
* transportation: $100
* telephone: $ 40
* others: $100

Total: $1000/month

Q: Any risk?
A: Of course.

Basically if you come to Singapore, you will have 30 days social visit pass, a legal pass to stay in Singapore. After that you need to extend your social visit pass if you cannot get any job during that period. And as i heard you can only extend online once. which is means you get 60 days to get the job. if not you need to go back to Indonesia.

Since you need to stay at least 2 months in Singapore, you need to bring at least SGD 2000, with you. :)

After going back to Indonesia (worst case) you can go back to Singapore, but i think a bit difficult.
They will ask a lot of questions.

If you can get the job within that period, you don’t need to worry. Because your company will help you apply for work permit or employment pass, a legal pass to stay and working in singapore. without that you are an illegal worker.

Q: How to get the job?
A: Got jobsdb, jobstreet for what? u go there and browse yourself la, or you can buy newspaper every wednesday and saturday, not necessary must that day, but on that day there will be a lot of vacancies posting in newspaper.

Q: How much is the range for the salary?
A: Go jobsdb and see yourself. Each job has a different salary range.

Q: How to find a room to stay?
A: Go to google and google it! Don’t know the address? Click here..

Q: Any other way?
A: Yes, go apply LPR (Landed Permanent Resident). I can say this is the best way if you are not a risk taker. LPR is a permit to stay in Singapore for 6mths to 1 year in order to find job.
Once you get the job, you can be a Singapore PR. This is the best way because you have a long time to find a job, you can take your time, no need to worry about not getting a job in certain period.

Q: How to apply LPR?
A: go to this website.

Q: Can you help find a job for me?
A: i’m sorry, i’m not a working agency, i believe you can try yourself to find your own job.

Is it better to love someone or to be loved by someone?

Filed under: oh love~ — Mel @ 12:09 am

Of course the best is to love each other.to be loved by someone we love too.. :)
But if i only can choose between that option, i’ll choose to be loved by someone more than i love him.
To me it’s tiring to love someone that doesn’t love me. It is difficult to change people. And it’s easier to change ourself.

So if someone loves me so much, although i don’t love him that much, i’ll still prefer him compare to someone i love so much that he doesn’t love me that much.
To change my self to grow my love to that person is easier than to change someone to love me more.

Last time i fight hard for love, to love someone that doesn’t love me that much, hope that he will love me more, but in the end i always fail to change him.
It’s is better if i have someone that loves me much, then i’ll learn to love him more.

Well i like to go and browse around, but never buy anything. i feel like it’s useless for me. :p
Then i continue walking….
i find this shop selling stack of sakura…
actually very nice sakura?
i dunno what to call it, especially the left one.. the green one like snake.
i thought that one is bamboo… curly bamboo…
Then then.. i find this….
Dunno wat to call it also. if you water it every day, it can grow hair (grass) :p
Actually i intend to buy one, but i remember i lazy leh.. later never water it then cannot grow hair. haiz. so i just give it a miss. :p
i like this photo, looks like somewhere in china, with old building. :)

Well, actually my purpose go to chinatown is to buy souvenirs for my mum’s friends and my friends. I bought a lot of keychain and magnet, 7 for $10. Actually i still want to bargain, but okay lah dun want to bargain, hungry that time, no energy to bargain. :(
In the end i buy 21 keychains + 4 magnets! Btw so many keychains mostly is for my mum’s friends. She got 17 friends! then just left few only for my friends. :p

Actually i take a lot of photos, then suddenly… memory full! I need to delete some not nice photos. So only left few photos that i can post them here :)

Spamming emails

Filed under: personal thoughts — Mel @ 9:42 pm

Sometimes when i check my Email, i received so many emails that are forwarded by friends. Some are meaningful and i never read before, some are just spam.
Well spam, because it asked you to continue to forward to n friends of yours, if you never do it, it will curse you!

Oh may! some of the content i like i’ll forward (if i have time to fwd, usually i won’t, coz lazy) then i’ll remove that cursing part.

Some of them like to send HOAX. Emails that the content is not true, and the sender also not sure it is true or not but keep forwarding that HOAX.
You maybe familiar with the title like: Friendster is closing down, forward or your account will be deleted, Please donate your blood, this xx hospital, patient name: XXX. but actually if you have too much free time you can check with the hospital, and you will find no patient with such name.

I don’t know why people are too free to send those HOAX and SPAMMING emails.

Sometimes when you forward, your friend may forward back to you, and the curse back to you. Whenever i open this kind of emails, i just delete it after a glance.
I really annoyed by the emails.

But another thing that i can learn from this hoax and spamming (if they are sent not by bot but by your friends), is that you still receive emails from your friends, they still remember you when they want to send emails. Too bad if the spam is sent by BOT. :p
Well friends, i’m happy to received your emails, showing that you remember me still, but pls be wise in every emails that you sent. Make sure you don’t curse the ppl by sending emails, and make sure you are not sending HOAX. :)

Happy Forwarding Emails!

In this case, i’ll give ang bao. ^_^

I want to spend time with my family and relatives (to collect ang bao hahah), to spend time with my family especially.
Then i want to meet my friends. (Uhm.. let me see who can i call, Petty, Sisca, Christa, Nuron, Thelma, Novi, Ndogg…. then my church friends.. i can meet them at church anyway :) then… who else arr.. )
I will go CG.
I will attend Pj’s wedding.
I wanna visit my grandmother @ Bali.
I want to shop @ Mangga Dua, visit TA, CL, ;p
I want to borrow comics… well i think i miss a lot of them.. maybe i can spend most of my free time reading comics and playing PS2. :)

erm bnenya juga pingin makan siomay, batagor, nasgor abang2, ujang… tapi itu.. must go to Jakarta, and i don’t have time for that this time.
This time i think i won’t have time to visit my friends in Jakarta although i miss them too.

Mr. Soeharto

Filed under: farewell — Mel @ 9:51 pm

Mr Soeharto, the former Indonesian President dead today in age 86 years.
In my own opinion, he was a great leader, except his corruption, collusion and nepotism.
So far his contribution to Indonesia growth is not a doubt. Although he made mistakes, we still need to see his good part, he has done a lot of great job for Indonesia.
Well people has tendency to see only the bad part, but now he died at least we can release him with forgiveness.
By this post i just want to give my deep condolences.

forgive and forget

Filed under: decision, relationship — Mel @ 11:40 pm

Yay! Happy, chinese new year is coming.. means i can go back home. no need to work! :p
i apply leave already, so what i need to do next is to make ‘to do list’ what to do at hometown.
First i want to eat food that i cannot find in Singapore. Then wanna meet my friends, spend time with my family. Well later sure i’ll make a long to do list.

Btw i hate if i cannot blog at office. I don’t know what happen with my pc, but always error when i want to save my post. Grr!
Actually i have a lot of things in mind to blog about when i’m in office because now i don’t have so much thing to do. Which is a lot of time i can waste to blog. But but but… blame to blogger, that always give me error. Well i can blog on notepad first, then post it when i’m at home, but blogging on notepad seems not interesting, and cannot help me build my mood. :(
So i just always say to myself to blog later when i reach home. But when i reach home, usually will have something to distract me. I don’t even want to open blogger. Then the next morning i’ll regret when i dont blog at home. of course i still cannot blog at office :(

So tonight i force myself to blog.

This time i’ll say i’ll learn to forgive and forget the past. Learn to give ppl a second chance, or an n-chance. because ppl always deserves a second chance.
When i say i wanna give a second chance to someone, i just say it in my heart, but some part of mine just can’t accept it. They keep saying some negative thinking that discourages me.
But i’ll say to myself not to hear them and close one eye. If needed then i’ll just close 2 eyes.
I cannot tell you the details about who i am going to give a second chance and why.
But although i’m stubborn and stone head one, i think this time i wanna decide something different. This time i’ll try to give full chance, not a half heart one… and believe that the person can make it. Even though later the person fails again, i will learn to accept.
I think this year i should learn to be more mature. Why should i fight to gain nothing rite?
To surrender my will is not about losing something. It’s just about delaying victory. :)
When i make this decision, slowly that discouraging voice fades off and i feel happier. I get peace back in my heart.

To forgive and forget doesn’t depend on your feeling, but it’s a decision. Your feeling will follow your decision.
To forgive won’t guarantee you that you can forget, sometimes you will still remember about the past, but when you have decided to forget, you won’t feel pain or angry if you remember about it. When you forgive and leave the past behind you, you can achieve more, because when you forgive means you move on from one dot to another dot, take another step forward.
When i don’t forgive, means i stay in the past and never move on, i will achieve nothing then.
So to forgive is not a loss, but is a first step that leads me to profit ^_^

3rd party

Filed under: personal thoughts — Mel @ 10:52 pm

It’s common when problems occur in relationships. When it occurs between 2 people relationship, it’s much better if they can solve the problem by themselves no need to add third party to help.
The more people the more complicated the problems are. Because the more people means the more different thoughts, different opinion. Then it’s not mature if you always seek other people’s help to solve your problems. You are not a kindergarten kid anymore that always cries and runs to parents when something happens. You are a mature adult that can think yourself what you are supposed to do.

When you are adult but you still seek others ppl help, you are no difference with a kindergarten kid.

By forgetting the problems and leaving them in the past doesn’t mean you have solve the problems. You just run away from them rather than facing them bravely.
You cannot avoid problems either, they are always there while you live. Problems are there to help you getting mature, wiser, and more knowledgeable. Running away from it means you are never growing up.

It’s not suggested to have third party in any relationship. Well you don’t want your husband have mistress right. That’s the same with a one to one relationship, such as shepherd and sheep.
Between shepherd and sheep shouldn’t be any third party involved. Sheep can always communicate directly to the shepherd, and no one can limit the shepherd to communicate with the sheep directly too. So if you can communicate directly why bother to ask other party to be the medium in between? It’s such a stupid and silly way. You just give yourself more problems.

Even the scientist/technician try to make the world without limit using such advance technology i.e internet, telephone, GPS, GPRS, and 3G. Why do you even try to limit yourself? *Baka!

note: *Baka = stupid.
